What is a Hospitalist?
During your stay at Atchison Hospital, members of the Hospitalists Service Team will take care of you and your family members. The Hospitalist specializes in caring for patients during their stay in the Hospital. Our Hospitalists are board certified internal medicine physicians who medically manage every aspect of your hospital care. They manage patients in all areas of the hospital, including the intensive care and medical-surgical units, as well as our swing bed.
Care Team Rounds
Care Team Rounds are dedicated bedside interactions that occur on a regular basis throughout the patient’s stay between the Patient, Family, Hospitalist, and other members of Team which may include Nurses, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietician, Pharmacy, Case Manager, Social Worker. The goal of the Care Team Rounds is to create an environment where patients, families and hospital staff work together for the best health outcomes for the patient. The Care Team Rounds brings everyone involved in the patient’s care together which creates an environment of direct communication and provides a venue for immediate clarification of any miscommunication. Patients and families directly participate in the plan of care.
